Simply amazing bbq. Your pulled pork is the best I’ve ever had…well maybe a tie with my own. But when I don’t feel like spending the hours to get great pulled pork, Old Carolina is my only choice. I recommended you to many of my friends and family and they are even more impressed/obsessed than I am, and that is a hard feat to do. The service at the Fairlawn location may even be better than the food. I used to go all the way up to Famous Dave’s for my bbq fix, but you guys are even better.
Old Carolina just catered my daughter & son-in-law’s rehearsal dinner on Friday evening (Aug 19, 2011). Wow! the food was wonderful. We had about 40 people attend and no one could stay away from the food. The pulled pork was A-mazing and those garlic mashed potatoes…kept going back for more! The food definitely made our event more special. I have had your food at several catered events and each time the quality is excellent. Old Carolina will certainly be our first choice whenever we need catering services! Thanks again!
I had my first taste of Old Carolina today for lunch, and I must say that while I have had barbecue all over the south (including Corky’s in Memphis and Jim N’ Nick’s in Montgomery), your pulled pork is the best I’ve tasted.
The wife and I stopped by the North Canton store today (for the first time), largely in part because of your billboard nearby advertising Cheerwine (LOVE Cheerwine!). We could not be happier about our decision to pop in for lunch. The meal was fantastic! I have not had a pulled pork sandwich that good since I was in Charlotte for the Memorial Day NASCAR race two years ago, and having the cole slaw on the sandwich is the ONLY way to have it! Why it took us so long to discover your restaurant is beyond me…I’m sure we will be back for more again. And again. And again! Also, the staff was extremely polite and also helpful in describing the menu and the story of your business to us first timers. BRAVO!
My entire department at work ordered lunch all week. We ordered from a few different places around the Belden Village area, and almost every place messed up our orders. When we ordered from Old Carolina (a favorite of ours) every single order was perfect. They took the time to double check and bag everything in front of me. Everyone working there was very friendly and kind. The food was wonderful as well, but nothing is better than great customer service which is something I have always received the countless times I have been there. Highly recommended restaurant!
I Finally got a chance to say “Thank You”. My company will sometimes have lunch brought in or an event catered and Old Carolina does a fantastic job! Each and every time we had an event catered it was incredible. You really know how to bring your "A" game to an event. Every menu item we have tried is excellent. This year as I was placing our order via phone, the person suggested your banana pudding. I gave them a yes without hesitation, your food is that good. The pudding was no exception!
I can personally tell you that we have people waiting for the events we have catered by your company. Thank you again for the great job you do!!
Your barbecue is as good as any we’ve had in North Carolina. And your hush puppies are better!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and your team for making some amazing barbecue!! I finally had the opportunity to stop by one of your locations (Ridgewood) last night to feed my barbecue fix, and it was definitely well worth it. Everything was smoked perfectly–and while I enjoyed your original sauce, the barbecue did more than enough to hold up on its own merits. Traveling frequently to places like Texas, Kansas City, etc.–I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy great barbecue and do consider myself a student of slow-smoking. Yours is certainly now among my favorite BBQ places.
Thank you for the delicious food and the excellent service! We had your company cater the rehearsal dinner for our son’s wedding. Over 70 people enjoyed some of the best pulled pork, brisket and sides anyone could ever have. We received so many compliments! We have enough leftovers to share with church members tomorrow evening and I know the response will be the same. Thank you so much for making a special evening easy and relaxed. The delivery was right on time and so courteous. And of course–terrific sauce!

I had your ribs at Lock 3 this year, they were by far the best and your staff was very friendly. My sister married a South Carolina boy yesterday (wedding was here) and wanted a picnic for her rehearsal dinner. His mother was planning it from SC and since I am in the food business came to me for a recommendation. Being in the wedding party it would have been difficult to do it myself and I remembered my (brief) experience with you, passed on your info and held my breath (you know how southern women are :). Everything was amazing! Not only was the man that she married is from the south but so is the majority of our family too. You impressed them all. Thank you for helping us Yankees to look good!
Big fan. The smoked meat is incredible and nothing like this in NE Ohio. Haven’t had BBQ like this since North Carolina.
I love this place, best ribs I have had anywhere in the country. And I have eaten BBQ all over the US. As for the sides, we LOVE the beans, both green beans loaded with smoked brisket, and the baked beans, both incredible. Also I love the slaw. Ribs and pulled pork are the best imho.

Holy Cow! I ate at your Fairlawn restaurant this week while visiting family. It was incredibly good! I'm craving your food now. So disappointed to find that the nearest Old Carolina is 600 miles away. Bummer.
We visited your Massillon location on May 7 for lunch. It exceeded our expectations by far. My husband is originally from the south and misses the BBQ. He was so pleased with the taste and quality of your meats and side dishes. Greg was very helpful and a great host. We will be back, but really wish you were in New Phila!!!!
This is by far the best BBQ I’ve had and enjoy any opportunity to partake. Pulled pork sandwich Carolina-style with slaw on the sandwich is key. Please open up in Stow!
A friend of mine brought me my first taste of Old Carolina the day after I had some knee surgery. The next day, I had such a taste for more that I drove myself to the Fairlawn location to get more! I had some of your wonderful bbq 4 days that week. Thank goodness there is finally some good, no, GREAT bbq in our area! Keep up the great work.
I’ve never had a bad experience at any of the Old Carolina locations. I used to frequent the Massillon location with my boyfriend (who loves the place because of me) but that was not a close drive for me. I wished for a location closer to the Summit/Medina County area. My wish was granted! I love the Akron location! My dad and I meet there almost weekly. The staff is always friendly, the sweet tea is always awesome, and I always have an excellent and overfilling lunch. Keep up the good work guys!!
Absolutely Great! I try to stop by 3-5 times per month. Everything is good but I love the ribs and the bake beans are the best I have ever had (my apologies to my wife).
I hope the Akron location is doing well. We would hate to loose it. Keep up the good eats!
Thank you for opening an Akron store! We are so excited to have an Old Carolina BBQ in our neighborhood! We stopped by the new store last night; the food was excellent and the service was friendly and fast. We look forward to visiting again soon!

The ribs. Oh. My. God. The ribs! What can you say about ribs that are so tender and succulent they slide right off the bone? What can you say about smokey hunks of deliciousness? What can you say about a flavor that is so incredible that you don't need to add sauce to them? You can say this…more please!
Thankfully we live minutes from the Canton location. My husband LOVES the Screaming Beaver sauce. I enjoy the taste of the ribs so much I've not used any sauce since my first visit. The meat is always tender and plentiful on the ribs. Whenever we have out of town visitors, we have to show off and take them to THE BEST BBQ in Ohio, anywhere actually. Keep up the great taste.
Had dinner at the Canton location last night. Second time and (if possible) even better than the first. I’m not a fan of goopey, over-sauced BBQ, and your’s is so moist and smoky, you don’t even need sauce! Although, I like all the varieties you offer!
Anxious to tell friends across the US to try their Old Carolina place, only to find you are a local company—their loss! Hopefully with your success, they’ll all have an Old Carolina Barbecue in their area very soon. Great job, and wonderful food!
We went to the Strongsville Rib Cook Off. My Wife and I love to BBQ and have to say your Ribs, Pulled Pork were some of the best I have ever had! Not to be forgotten, the Beans and Cold Slaw were out of this world good! Love it and glad to hear you will be opening one in Akron real soon! Can't wait and good luck!
There is no other bbq in Canton. Hands down…Old carolina is the best! I knew this going into our family Christmas party meeting and being in charge of the money, I decided that this year we would have the delicious pulled pork for a meat entry at this years Xmas party. It went first! I mean, I was thinking I was going to maybe take some home with me…Barely any left!!! A real winner and everyone loved it! So glad it occurred to me to have bbq in the winter and at Christmas!!! It was perfect! Now that my husband is retiring and getting ready to leave Ohio for his new job in Florida, I know what we’re having at his goodbye party!!! thanks for making a splendid (and i mean gggoooooooooood!) bbq meal!!!
Absolutely the best BBQ in Ohio!!! My wife and I have tried other places only to be disappointed. I am glad to say that our quest is over! We've found the Winner!! Old Carolina.
We live in Massillon and have never been to Old Carolina Barbeque 2482 Lincolnway E. Boy have we been missing out. What a great tasting dinner we had. 2 pulled pork sandwich combos with the best tasting sweet tea! We are coming back for more. Our server Amanda was very nice, taking our order and clearing our table. Just thought you might want to know what we think of your place, Clean, nice sized portions and we didn't leave hungry. Thanks for doing a good job.

We attended the Celebrity Cuisine about a month ago and fell in love with your food. On Mothers' Day, we told mom she could pick anywhere she would like and she picked Old Carolina. What a treat for everyone. The prices were great and the portions were huge. Keep up the great work. The servers at the cuisine were awesome as well, very polite and friendly.
Yesterday was my first visit. Fantastic. Especially the wonderful help in service and choosing we received from Holly. Hope you all appreciate her. We'll be back often.
Last night was the first time that I been to one of your restaurants. I wanted to let you know that I had a great experience. My order was accidentally messed up, but the people there handled it well and were very friendly. Usually when something bad happens it doesn't end well, but the workers made it amusing and I didn't mind it at all. I will definitely be back, the food was great, and your workers were very helpful.
We just had a catered company picnic and we all unanimously agreed that this was the best ribs, chicken and food overall! Thanks!
I just came back from vacation in the south and no one down there even comes close to Old Carolina. Every meal I had I was compairing it to Old Carolina. Even the sweet tea can't be compaired. Old Carolina is the best and my whole family is hooked.
We ate at the Everhard Rd Loc. Aug. 11. The food was the best I have ever had, and my wife and 3 sons(adult) agree. I wanted to compliment the staff as well, most plesant, friendly and efficient. We'll be back!
My husband and I ate at your place last night and I wanted to let you know that if was, by far, the best barbecue that we have EVER had! In fact, all the menus that were given to me have been handed out and my rave review has everyone here hungry for your food. It was so good for us that we will be bringing friends again tonight!
I've been to some good BBQ joints across the South; Speedy's in Lexington, NC, Sconyer's in Augusta, GA, and Corky's in Memphis. Old Carolina is better than any of 'em! Also, “Q-School” is the best! It's nice to be able to do good Q myself, but it's better to just go buy it when I'm in a hurry for a fix.
I just had supper at your Belden Village location and was absolutely delighted! Having lived in N.W. Tennessee for 6 years and having traveled on (tobacco) business to Eastern North Carolina for decades, I really missed the pleasure of good pulled-shoulder barbeque since moving to Ohio 7 years ago! I even went so far as to having pork barbeque FedEx'd to me from a company in Spring Hill, Tn. That sure was expensive but I won't have to do that anymore now that I know about your great company! I'll be back often and will bring my Southern friends with me! Your food is excellent and your staff members are exceptionally helpful & friendly!
I'm a Certified Barbecue judge and have been judging ribs and barbecue for around twenty years. I can say with great confidence that these people make the best BBQ to be found anywhere, near or far. They live by their motto, “Barbecue is not a verb, it's a noun. And it's not a pastime, it's a passion.”
I would just like to compliment your staff. I have been to your restaurant MANY times and the employees are ALWAYS polite, helpful, and cheerful. I wish more businesses would find such nice kids to work for them. I can tell that your staff enjoy their jobs. Every time my husband and I leave we say, “Gosh, where did they find those kids. They are so nice."” We aren't used to having such good service and good moods! Thank you!
My family ate at the one in Belden Village and the food was great. My wife had a salad with chicken, my son and I had the wings which were out of this world and we all split a rack of ribs. We liked everything so much my son and I signed up for the Q School and learned how to smoke ribs, grill corn and potatoes. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves barbecued food, and be sure and come hungary.
Hey guys, stopped by the Massillon shop Saturday, was out hiking with the family, excellent work. The BBQ was so good, we completely forgot the sauce. Great service, great place. Sweet tea, yum!
I am married to a man from North Carolina and for the last 30 years have been taken to every barbeque place in both North and South Carolina. I have been taught the fine points of difference between Lexington and Piedmont style. I have had it for breakfast in Atlanta. I have never had better than at your restaurant. I love the brisket especially and the green beans are just like my mother made them. My husband says that your hush puppies are the only one's he had in years that match those he remembers. It seems southerns have lost the recipe. Clearly, you found it. And where else in Ohio can you find Sweet Tea? Thank you for bringing it all so close to home. Wow–it's so good to find a restaurant that knows the difference between BBQ'ing and grilling in this area! They seem few and far between, if there are any at all.

I am originally from Florence, SC with half of my relatives living in NC. This past Friday we were able to check your establishment out and boy were you crowded. We had a pulled pork sandwich and it was the wonderful, Southern food we had been longing for at last and could only get when we were visiting the Carolinas. Oh and the SWEET TEA…could have turned my head upside down and just drank it all from the container…you are right on the money with the TEA and the BBQ of course.
Just wanted to drop you a line. My wife and I have been craving good BBQ for a while but did not have anyplace that met our needs…until now. :) We had the pulled pork sandwich platter and it was melt-in-your-mouth! It was cool to have the sauces available on the side to taste and apply as the customer desires–just a touch of sauce–or dripping/sloppy!
